Maggie Elliott is an artist with a diverse cultural background, born in Athens, Greece. Her unique heritage blends American and Greek influences: her father is from New York, and her mother is Greek. The artistic environment of her family, particularly inspired by her grandfather, Spyros Vassiliou, a renowned figure in Greek art, significantly influenced her early exposure to the arts.

Raised in Athens with an English education and frequent visits to the United States, Maggie's upbringing was a blend of cultures, fostering her bicultural identity. Her passion for the arts was enriched by extensive travels from a young age. These journeys, initially with her family and later solo, exposed her to a variety of artistic styles and periods, enhancing her appreciation for diverse art forms.

Maggie's formal engagement with art began when she moved to the United States for college, immersing herself in art history. A pivotal experience in Paris, where she studied painting in an artist's studio, led her to shift her focus to studio art. She graduated from Hampshire College in Massachusetts with a BA in painting and further refined her skills at the NY Studio School, focusing on drawing and painting.

In the 1990s, Maggie returned to Athens, where she continued to develop and exhibit her work. Her travels remained a significant influence, continually shaping her style and leading to new opportunities.

Maggie's artwork has been displayed in various locations, including Athens, New York, Paris, and the Caribbean. Her style often simplifies details to create balanced, minimalistic compositions, using a neutral palette inspired by nature and her surroundings.

Although primarily working in oils, Maggie has experimented with acrylics, gouache, and watercolors. Her recent interests include exploring three-dimensional materials.

Maggie now lives in the Southwest of France with her husband and daughter, where she continues to evolve and explore new dimensions in her artistic journey.
